Peer Employment Training
CHEEERS offers Arizona State Approved Peer Employment Training.
This pre-employment program is designed to prepare individuals to take the State Competency Exam to become Certified as a Peer Support Specialist, This training is provided on a rotation basis and will require individuals to attend classes 3 days a week , 5 hours a day for 3 weeks. CHEEERS Peer Employment Training reviews all state required materials and requires individuals to pass a competency . Individuals who are interested in learning more to determine if the program at CHEEERS is right for them, need to complete a Intake into CHEEERS services . Peer Enrichment Program
CHEEERS now offers a Peer Enrichment Program that allows individuals who are interested in learning more about becoming a Peer Support and or who are interested in strengthening their recovery skills, learning more about themselves and enriching their lives, the opportunity to attend this fun and exciting new program . Computer Tutoring
In CHEEERS computer tutoring, we work at building your computer skills. Depending on your level, we can start with keyboard fundamentals, creating and using an email account, learning search engine skills, completing online job applications, establishing and using social media, and so much more. If you are interested in learning certain skills, we can show you how to use Microsoft Office programs, YouTube, Facebook, and review Internet safety. Stop by the computer center to learn more of what we offer. Today, more than ever, basic computer skills are necessary to navigate the world.
GED-Prep
Earning your GED can be an excellent step in reaching your educational goals and providing opportunities for your recovery. At CHEEERS, we offer a GED Prep program designed to help you at whatever your current skill level. Participants take a pre-test to determine what training is needed. The pretest generates a customized study guide that is used to determine your personal curriculum. We have a fully-equipped classroom with computers and offer instruction in reading, writing and math. If needed, CHEEERS even offers Phonics and Math basics for those interested in furthering their education. When you are ready, CHEEERS will assist you in setting up the GED test with the Department of Education and ensure that you are prepared to do your very best. Several of our participants have passed their GED tests and gone on to college. They are now pursuing degrees in areas that interest them. It is never too late or too hard to continue your education.
Food Handler Card Training
The state of Arizona requires the anyone working with food for the public has a Food Handler card, which is valid for three years. If you handle, prepare, serve, sell, or give away food for human consumption, even if you bus tables or wash dishes, you are a food worker and need this training. This card will allow you to volunteer at CHEEERS in our kitchen or get a job in our community. With this training program, our team will help you walk through the entire process.
