Peer Support Training & Certification This training module prepares CHEEERS participants to be supportive role models who go on to assist others in identifying their strengths, accomplishing their goals, and moving on to lives of wellness and purpose. We recommend that Peer Support Training applicants complete all eight WRAP modules. All applicants must be 18 years or older, have a GED or high school diploma, and have a referral from a behavioral health provider in Maricopa County. The training program is held three times a week in three week rotations. After completing our CHEEERS Peer Support Training, members are certified to conduct, manage and coordinate CHEEERS programs.

ComputerTutoring In CHEEERS computer tutoring, we work at building your computer skills. Depending on your level, we can start with keyboard fundamentals, creating and using an email account, learning search engine skills, completing online job applications, establishing and using social media, and so much more. If you are interested in learning certain skills, we can show you how to use Microsoft Office programs, YouTube, Facebook, and review Internet safety. Stop by the computer center to learn more of what we offer. Today, more than ever, basic computer skills are necessary to navigate the world.

GED Prep Earning your GED can be an excellent step in reaching your educational goals and providing opportunities for your recovery. At CHEEERS, we offer a GED Prep program designed to help you at whatever your current skill level. Participants take a pre-test to determine what training is needed. The pretest generates a customized study guide that is used to determine your personal curriculum. We have a fully-equipped classroom with computers and offer instruction in reading, writing and math. If needed, CHEEERS even offers Phonics and Math basics for those interested in furthering their education. When you are ready, CHEEERS will assist you in setting up the GED test with the Department of Education and ensure that you are prepared to do your very best. Several of our participants have passed their GED tests and gone on to college. They are now pursuing degrees in areas that interest them. It is never too late or too hard to continue your education.

Food Handler Card Training The state of Arizona requires the anyone working with food for the public has a Food Handler card, which is valid for three years.  If you handle, prepare, serve, sell, or give away food for human consumption, even if you bus tables or wash dishes, you are a food worker and need this training. This card will allow you to volunteer at CHEEERS in our kitchen or get a job in our community. With this training program, our team will help you walk through the entire process.
